Not that\u00a0 I needed an excuse to kill<br \/>\nthem, but now that mosquitos carry the West Nile Virus it is important to keep<br \/>\nthem controlled around where you live.<\/p>\n<p>You don&#8217;t have to nuke your yard with toxic<br \/>\nchemicals to get rid of mosquitoes. There are some eco friendly mosquito control<br \/>\nmethods that work just as well, or even better that dangerous chemicals.<\/p>\n<p>Prevention Of Mosquitoes<\/p>\n<p>The best method is to not give them homes,<br \/>\nsuch as old tires, which collect small pools of water, bottles, buckets, clogged<br \/>\ngutters, stagnant birdbaths, etc,<br \/>\nReplace your pets water dish regularly so that<br \/>\nmosquito larvae do not have a chance to hatch there.<\/p>\n<p>Fix leaking outdoor spigots that may form<br \/>\npools of water where mosquito larvae can hatch.<\/p>\n<p>Unclog rain gutters where mosquito larvae may<br \/>\nbreed.<\/p>\n<p>Stock your permanent ponds with mosquito<br \/>\neating fish such as Gambusia affinis, which are available in pet stores.<br \/>\nConsider installing a bat house or nesting sites for birds such as purple<br \/>\nmartins that eat mosquitos. Keep your window screens free of holes.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;\">Least Toxic Solutions For Killing<br \/>\nMosquitoes<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;\">Eco Friendly Mosquito Control Methods. Use BT or bacillis thuringiensis israeliensis<br \/>\n&#8216;dunks&#8217;\u00a0 to kill mosquitoes in rain barrels. It releases a biological larvicide<br \/>\nthat kills mosquito larvae after they hatch.<\/p>\n<p>You can use citronella candles in outdoor<br \/>\nareas to keep mosquitoes and other biting bugs away when you are outside.<\/p>\n<p>Use topical repellents on pets in conjunction<br \/>\nwith heartworm medication prescribed by your vet.
