\nNaturally With Eco Friendly Solutions

Here are some eco friendly ways to kill
\nmosquitoes. Not that\u00a0 I needed an excuse to kill
\nthem, but now that mosquitos carry the West Nile Virus it is important to keep
\nthem controlled around where you live.<\/p>\n

You don’t have to nuke your yard with toxic
\nchemicals to get rid of mosquitoes. There are some eco friendly mosquito control
\nmethods that work just as well, or even better that dangerous chemicals.<\/p>\n

Prevention Of Mosquitoes<\/p>\n

The best method is to not give them homes,
\nsuch as old tires, which collect small pools of water, bottles, buckets, clogged
\ngutters, stagnant birdbaths, etc,
\nReplace your pets water dish regularly so that
\nmosquito larvae do not have a chance to hatch there.<\/p>\n

Fix leaking outdoor spigots that may form
\npools of water where mosquito larvae can hatch.<\/p>\n

Unclog rain gutters where mosquito larvae may
\nbreed.<\/p>\n

Stock your permanent ponds with mosquito
\neating fish such as Gambusia affinis, which are available in pet stores.
\nConsider installing a bat house or nesting sites for birds such as purple
\nmartins that eat mosquitos. Keep your window screens free of holes.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Least Toxic Solutions For Killing
\nMosquitoes
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Eco Friendly Mosquito Control Methods. Use BT or bacillis thuringiensis israeliensis
\n‘dunks’\u00a0 to kill mosquitoes in rain barrels. It releases a biological larvicide
\nthat kills mosquito larvae after they hatch.<\/p>\n

You can use citronella candles in outdoor
\nareas to keep mosquitoes and other biting bugs away when you are outside.<\/p>\n

Use topical repellents on pets in conjunction
\nwith heartworm medication prescribed by your vet. (Mosquitos carry heartworms
\ntoo).<\/p>\n

Use only product with a low concentration of
\nDEET, under 10% for kids 2 to 12 and do not use DEET on kids under 2.<\/p>\n

Please don’t use mosquito foggers and bug
\nzappers.<\/p>\n

They both kill tons of beneficial insects every year.<\/p>\n

Preying mantis
\nare attracted to and killed by bug zappers and a dozen preying mantis kill more
\nharmful insects than one bug zapper on full time.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Bug zappers can easily kill a dozen or more preying mantis a night!<\/p>\n

For a natural mosquito repellent, try Bite Blocker Herbal Lotion, Kadco Skeeter D’Feeter (citronella) and Repel Lemon Eucalyptus Insect Repellent.<\/p>\n

For mosquitoes in Standing Water try Summit Chemical
\nMosquito Dunks (Bacillis Thuringiensis Israeliensis) and Golden Bear Oil
\nSpecialties<\/p>\n

For vegetation try Greenlight Yard Safe Cedar
\nCide and\u00a0 Bonide Mosquito Beater<\/p>\n

For airborne repellents try SC Johnson
\nCitronella candles.<\/p>\n
